Today, October 17th is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The majority of the 1.5 billion people living on 1 dollar a day or less are women. Feminization of poverty is a global phenomena. There are 870 million workers ( working poor ) who are living with their families on less than US$2 per person per day, of which nearly 400 million are living in extreme poverty.
